Hello, everyone. My name is Tomoko. Nice to meet you again,
This my first speech at this club and now is a good opportunity to introduce myself.
My speech’s tile is 13, 33, -3000000.
Let me introduce myself by sharing what I learned in my life with these three numbers.
13, 33, -3000000
What do you think about these numbers?
I will ask you what they are at the end of the speech so please think about it.
By the way, have you ever heard “Forex” or “FX”?
Foreign Exchange (Forex or FX) is the trading of one currency for another. For example, one can swap the U.S. dollar for the yen. The Forex market is the largest, most liquid market in the world. The daily trading volume is much bigger than the stock markets.
I began to Forex trade 13 years ago, it was in the middle of the first FX boom in Japan.
A lot of books for beginner traders were published and some housewives who made a lot of money in Forex market had been a hot topic on TV and in magazines in those days.
For me, I was 33 years old and pregnant, I had quit my job to focus on parenting. I thought that it would be hard to get another job when my child raising period was finally over -because my age would be over 40 when that time would come. My anxiety made me start Forex trading. I dreamed about becoming a billionaire like women I watched on TV shows but reality was harsh. I lost 3 million yen for the first time in six months.
My money had gone with the wind, only one thing remained. It was, something like, self-confidence or conviction. To my surprise, I had a hunch that I could be a successful trader after studying so much.
After that, I began to learn trading basics and also began to study English. You may think “why English?” Because most of the trading systems were in English and America is a progressive country on investment. I mean that the more I use English fluently, more I gain good information on investment. That’s the reason why to become proficient in English was one of the important factors for me. I really believed that at that time.
13 years since then. What happened to me?
I finally become a full-time trader last year. I recouped myself for 3 millions yen;my former losses.
Thanks to learning English, I passed some English exams and I also got two jobs for the last 5 years. Without these qualifications, I couldn’t achieve these goals.
I really studied so hard and I noticed a fact at the same time.
The fact is English ability isn’t completely necessary to become a good trader.
I realized it after starting to learn English soon but I couldn’t stop it because I knew learning English was very interesting. Furthermore, I made friendships among English learners in Japan.
Nowadays, trading and learning English are indispensable for my life. 13 years ago, I surely faced difficulties but I followed my intuition. That was the right decision. If I didn’t follow my intuition I wonder what would have happened, I wouldn’t be who I am now and I wouldn’t take part in this club today.
Life doesn’t turn out as planned. Human relationship, social manners, common sense etc. there are so many things we have to pay attention to.Life is really difficult, isn’t it? When I can’t decide, I always follow my intuition because I know my intuition must take me in the right direction.
Well, do you remember the numbers “13, 33, -3000000”?
The incident happened 13 years ago dramatically changed my life.
My story is at an end and thank you for listening.
